Print Publication: 2019- 2020 Undergraduate Admissions viewbook

Mailed to 120,000 prospective students and families. My role in this project included:

  • Oversee and direct entire project including concept, layout and budget management

  • Writing content including student stories

  • Photo selection

  • Guiding design team on overall look and feel

  • Working alongside print vendor to select print treatments

  • Identifying target populations for weekly mail sends

Video: The Student Experience at Kent State

An unscripted storytelling video featuring current students. This video is played prior to all Admissions Office recruiting events. My role in this project included:

  • Oversee and direct entire project utilizing an external film crew

  • Identifying students with compelling stories

  • Working with campus partners for student recommendations and film locations

  • Conducting student interviews on camera

  • Selecting soundbites and b-roll footage

  • Identifying edits

Website: Redesign 2021

A complete redesign and content overhaul of kent.edu/admissions. For the first time ever, all of our admitting units now live under the same web umbrella. The goal of this redesign was to eliminate more than 100 pages while making the user experience more streamlined and mobile friendly. My role in this project included:

  • Create mock up site and pitch concept

  • Oversee all content including writing new page content and eliminating pages altogether

  • Work alongside university web team as well as each admitting unit to restructure site map and individual content

  • Usability testing with prospective students and parents

  • Identify page elements including photography, icons, video, etc.

  • Training admissions counselors and front-facing staff on new website to ensure great customer service

Event Marketing

The Admissions Office plans and executes hundreds of events each year including events on campus and off. The admissions marketing team promotes these events through all available channels to drive registration. Included above are examples of two special off-campus events we executed in 2020 and 2021. My role in these events included:

KSU in the CLE

  • Pitched idea to Enrollment Management leadership team

  • Worked alongside Admissions Office events staff member to secure partnership with the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse

  • Secured guest speakers Josh Cribbs and Len Komoroski

  • Worked with Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse staff to create co-branded giveaway items

  • Created marketing plan including targeted email, web, social media, and SMS.

  • Delivered talking points and worked alongside featured speakers

  • Assisted with event setup and tear down

KSU2U

  • Pitched idea to Enrollment Management leadership team

  • Called drive-in theaters around the state of Ohio to secure facility rentals during preferred dates

  • Created marketing plan including targeted postcards, digital ads and emails, web, social media and SMS

  • Shot and edited 50-minute video featuring an Admissions 101 presentation, virtual campus tour and student stories

  • Distributed press releases and served as media contact for all locations

  • These events received local and national media attention including Yahoo News, Fox 8, Newschannel 5, WKYC, WOIO and Spectrum News

Digital Advertising

A crucial tactic in our marketing campaigns is targeted digital advertising. Whether it's obtaining new leads, converting admits into deposits or promoting events to drive registrations, targeted digital ads are a cost-effective touch point. My role includes:

  • Creating and implementing all internal digital ad campaigns

  • Utilizing custom audience lists to target prospects, inquiries and admits or building lead generation campaigns through digital advertising platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and Google.

  • Working alongside outside vendors such as EAB, Harmelin and NRCCUA to build and implement digital campaigns
